Thank you so much to all the actors from the showcase of Generation 21.

This was the hardest course for me as your coach. In the middle of the course, I had to go to the Netherlands as the health of my mom was fading quickly. The time I spent with her was very precious and I was able to be with her until her final breathe.

Handing over a class to while being in the middle of the course is something that I hadn’t done before and something that I had been scared of. When coaching we engage in a very intimate relationship with each other. We share our innermost hearts and the process is very delicate. We build up trust to one another where we allow each other to be guided by sharing openly and wholeheartedly.

Some part of me feels that I let you down, but, were I in the same position again, I would have made the same decision as I cannot turn back the time and my mom is now gone.

The only person I could see taking on this responsibility and that I trust whole heartedly to take on the task and give it her all was Mona Greenspoon and she did not let me down. Taking on a course mid-way is a huge task in itself. A trust and bond has been build to the instructor that came before and now the new coach needs to deal with a whole other set of feelings and emotions other than focusing on the course material.

Mona, you had a humongous hill to climb and you did.

When I came back, I could feel the trust and the relationship that you were able to establish between you and the students. You became their acting coach. And you still are.

This is the first generation of students that was able to experience 3 coaches and directors, June, Mona and myself. Each with their very own style, with their very own way, with their very own philosophy and all of them being right. Like in life there are always many ways to look at the same issue. Such is theatre, such is life.

In the end, this was a showcase to be proud of. All of it enjoyable. None of it boring. With a whole range of emotions. Packed with drama, comedy, tragedy, a little slapstick but most of all…a lot of passion and love for the art of acting.

Congratulations and thank you for sticking with me until the end…and as every new beginning comes at some other beginnings end…I hope to see you in the next course!
