This week, our furry star has slipped into that famous white halter dress, added a little beauty mark, and is practicing catching the breeze to channel the absolute epitome of Hollywood glamour: Marilyn Monroe! 🐢🌬️
“Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.” β€” Marilyn Monroe
A little studio trivia for your week:
It is so easy to look at Marilyn Monroe and only see the “blonde bombshell” archetype that the studios usually forced her into. But what many people don’t realize is that Marilyn was deeply committed to the true craft of acting. In the 1950s, right at the height of her massive fame, she fought the studio system, walked away from Hollywood, and moved to New York to rigorously study Method Acting under Lee Strasberg at the legendary Actors Studio.
She constantly fought for complex roles and brought a heartbreaking, raw vulnerability to the screen that went far beyond just looking beautiful. She proved that even if the industry tries to box you into a specific “type,” your job as an actor is to find the profound, messy, human truth underneath the surface.
Never let a character become a one-dimensional caricature. Bring your own beautiful imperfections to the floor! 🎬✨
