Acting Class Code of Conduct

Our classroom is a space for creativity, growth, and collaboration. To ensure everyone feels safe and respected, all students agree to the following:

1. Respect & Safety Treat every classmate, teacher, and guest with respect. Physical, verbal, or symbolic actions that are discriminatory, offensive, or harmful (e.g., racist, antisemitic, sexist, or homophobic gestures or words) will not be tolerated.

2. Physical Boundaries & Consent Acting often involves physical interaction, but personal boundaries must always be respected. Always ask for consent before touching a scene partner, and communicate openly if you are uncomfortable with any physical direction or exercise.

3. Freedom with Responsibility Acting is about freedom of expression. But freedom ends where another person’s dignity, safety, or identity is disrespected. Always ask yourself: “Does this choice uplift the work, or does it harm someone in the room?”

4. Collaboration & Support Acting is an ensemble art. Encourage, support, and inspire your classmates. Take risks in your work—but never at the expense of another’s well-being.

5. Constructive Environment Allow the instructor to direct. Refrain from giving unsolicited feedback or “coaching” your fellow actors. Be an active, supportive observer when others are working.

6. Confidentiality & Trust To encourage vulnerability and creative risk-taking, what happens in the classroom stays in the classroom. Do not share personal stories or emotional work revealed by classmates with outside parties. Devices must be kept on silent, and recording video or audio during class is strictly prohibited without explicit permission.

7. Professional Conduct Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage. Listen actively, respond truthfully, and accept feedback with openness.

8. Accountability If a mistake happens, own it. Acknowledge it, apologize, and learn from it. Together we create a safe environment where growth is possible for everyone.

By continuing in this class, you agree to uphold this Code of Conduct.
