What would the casting director think?
Put yourself into the shoes of a casting director who has to invite people to a casting for a 100,000 Baht commercial. Who would you invite to come to the casting? The guy in the first picture or the guy from the second picture? The guy with the selfies or the guy with professional headshots?
It is the same person but professional headshots can make all the difference to upgrade the amount of money that people are willing to spend on you.
But a selfie will get me jobs, too!
You will be able to get jobs with the first picture for sure. Ask yourself what kind of jobs will you be able to get?
Extra jobs. Jobs that pay you 2,000 Baht or less per day. And that is the maximum that you will be able to get. Ever. How many extra jobs can you get in a lucky month? 5? 6? 10 if you are very lucky. Now I let you do the math on that. Will you be able to live with that kind of money?
Do you want to get paid 2,000 Baht or 50,000 Baht?
If you want to be invited to a casting for a job in which you get 10,000, 20,000, 30,000 or 100,000 Baht for ONE SINGLE JOB you need better pictures. In my capacity as agent and casting director, I don’t know of any case where a person selected from a selfie was chosen for a casting.

They want to see if your hair has changed or to see how much photoshop has been used on the first pictures they have seen. But like everywhere, first impressions count! The first selection is always from the pictures. The higher quality pictures you have, the more castings you will be invited to, the more higher paying jobs you will get.
You need to give some to get some.
Don’t dream of making it into the industry if you are not willing to invest in yourself. Don’t dream of making it big if you think small and are unwilling to spend a few bucks to sell yourself.
